Congestive Heart Failure & D

Researchers had one hundred patients with congestive heart failure get their vitamin D levels tested.  Only 6% were in the normal range (>30 ng/ml).

They were then supplemented with vitamin D for 4 months.  The average level of vitamin D went from 12 ng/ml to 54 ng/ml.

Levels of B-type natriuretic peptide, a marker of stress on the heart, was significantly reduced along with C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation.  The subjects also saw improvement in their 6-minute walk distance.

Are you not amazed by vitamin D?
