Grape Seed Supports Normal Blood Pressure

You’ve probably noticed your local gym is packed with faces you haven’t seen in a while.  Everyone seems to be trying to lose some weight as part of their new year resolutions.

Dropping some pounds makes us feel better about the way we look, but we also do it for the long term health benefits of maintaining a more normal waistline.  Keeping our blood pressure in normal range is one of the most important things we can do for our overall health.

Exercise, eating a more balanced diet and coping with stress can all help keep our blood pressure from going too high.  There are also some natural substances that support the body in maintaining normal blood pressure.  Researchers at UC Davis looked into the effect of grape seed extract on people with metabolic syndrome.

They were given either placebo, 150mg of grape seed extract or 300mg per day for four weeks.  Their blood pressure was recorded before and after the study.  Both the systolic and diastolic blood pressures were lower in the grape seed extract groups.
