A new long term study should reinforce you to take your fish oil.  You already know about all the benefits of fish for your heart and brain health.

Researchers followed nearly 2,700 adults aged 74 years old (+-5yrs) for 16 years.  They had their omega-3 levels measured and then compared to mortality rates and fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular heart disease.

The results show that higher levels of omega-3’s are associated with lower mortality and fatal cardiovascular disease.
