Vitamin D May Reduce Risk of Infection

Vitamin D may reduce risk of infection according to a new study.  There has been a lot of research published in the last few years showing the impact of vitamin D on the immune system.

In this study, people admitted to the hospital had their vitamin D levels measured.  They then had blood drawn 48 hours after leaving the hospital to check for bloodstream infections.

The results show that those with low vitamin D levels had an increased risk of getting an infection.
