Probiotics and Antibiotics Are More Effective Taken Together

Probiotics and antibiotics are more effective taken together, than antibiotics alone.  Urinary tract infections are quite common and the usual treatment option prescribed is antibiotics.

In this study, researchers looked at whether taking probiotics along with the antibiotics would make any difference.  They recruited about 84 children who had recurring urinary tract infections.

About half were given the standard antibiotic treatment while the other half were also given a probiotic to take as well.  The children getting both antibiotic and probiotic treatment had less recurrence than those getting antibiotics alone.
