Yesterday, Dr. OZ told us about a two pronged approach for improving one's posterior. His first approach to conquering the fat that tends to collect on back sides was to supplement with Kudzu Root extract. Dr. OZ also recommended a high complex carboydrate diet to shave inches off your derriere.

Kudzu

In one study, Kudzu Root reduced the amount of weight gained by animals prone to weight gain, even though the animals continued to eat their regular amount of food.

The Effects Of A High Carbohydrate Diet

Dr. OZ presents so many great ideas to his audience. However, we at Sundrops would like to present an alternative view of his high carbohydrate diet. We want to point you toward a different diet that is much more likely to reduce body fat, even on the butt, and can even slow aging.

According to scientists, eating more carbohydrates turns on a system that stores more fat in the body, rather than burns fat. Your body likes to burn carbohydrates for energy when they are around. If you eat a lot of carbohydrates, your body never gets around to using the energy from all the fat you have stored up. When you eat more carbohydrates, you give your metabolism a handy alternative to actually using your body fat for energy. In this situation, your body knows it does not need to burn fat off your bum in order to make enough energy, so the fat stays and even builds.

More Carbohydrates Cause More Aging

Women on this particular Dr. OZ show complained not only of the size of their bottoms, but also that they felt their bottoms looked "sloppy", and "dimpled". This developement of cellulite is part of the aging process and is thought to be connected to the aging of the skin and connective tissue that holds fat cells in place.

Higher carbohydrate diets are linked to aging with a capital A. Dr. OZ fans: Do you remember when Dr. OZ recommended Carnosine last week for beautiful unwrinkled skin? Here is our Post. Carnosine works specifically to prevent the kind of aging that high carbohydrates cause.

High carb diets cause this sort of aging all over your body, including in the skin and connective tissue that keeps your bottom smooth. Carbohydrate-induced aging causes collagen in these tissues to lose elasticity, just like it causes wrinkles in your skin.

A Better Plan

So, as brilliant as Dr. OZ generally is, we recommend you skip his diet. Find a solid scientific plan for weight loss at Sundrops.com.

Also at Sundrops.com, discover the quickest, least boring type of Exercise. This type of exercise has been shown to help you lose weight in the most effecient way and also slow down the aging process.

Nutr J 2011. Clin Dermatol 2010.

Women who took 75mg Pycnogenol, a pine bark extract, for 12 weeks experienced increases in skin elasticity and hydration. Dry skin decreased noticeably in women who had dry skin prior to the study.

Pycnogenol may work by increasing hyaluronic acid, a compound vital to the structure of skin cells. In this study, hyaluronic acid increased in skin by 44%.

The production of hyaluronic acid begins to decline at about age 30. This drop-off is linked with accelerating wrinkle development.

7-Keto: The Real Deal?

7-keto DHEA is a relative of regular DHEA, which is a natural compound your body turns into a variety of important hormones. 7-keto DHEA levels rise until age 20 an then begin to decline at age 30. In most people, levels will have fallen 50% by about age 50.

7-keto increases thermogenesis, a process that burns fat for energy. More thermogenesis means a faster metabolism.

In the study Dr. Oz refers to, scientists had two groups of people exercise and follow an 1800 calorie diet. One group received placebo capsules while the other group was given 100mg 7-keto DHEA twice a day. The 7-keto group lost three times as much weight and three times as much body fat as the placebo group!

Forskolin

Forskolin is a plant extract that increases cellular activity. In the 2005 study, 250mg forskolin twice a day reduced body fat and fat mass in a group of obese men. There was even a trend towards increased lean body mass.

Spectacular Satiereal Saffron

In the study Dr. Oz talks about, saffron reduced appetite in 100% of women tested. 80.7% of the women tested lost weight: up to 11 lb in two months. Women in the saffron group reported reduced hunger and 100% of them were able to reduce snacking in between meals. None in the placebo group reported this effect.

Saffron may exert its effects by boosting serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is known for increasing feelings of satisfaction.

Alcoholics who quit drinking often experience a loss of enjoyment in normal life activities like social interaction, eating, exercise, and sexual relations. This loss of pleasure, called anhedonia, becomes a force that drives detoxified alcoholics back to drinking.

Help Returning To Normal

In a study published last year, a compound called Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) significantly improved anhedonia in alcoholics who quit drinking. In the group given ALC, particapants reached a low level of anhedonia in about 10 days. The control group who did not recieve ALC took three times as long to drop to a low level of anhedonia.

Potent Brain Cell Support

ALC is a compound that helps create more energy in brain cells. Brain cells function more normally when they have plenty of energy.

As Dr. Oz informed us last week, carnosine is a compound normally found in our bodies that declines as we get older.

Carnosine And The Aging Process

As we age, the proteins in our cells can get tangled with one another. Our tissues become stiffer as the cells they are made of lose flexibility. These tangles also cause markedly increased free radical production, setting off a firestorm of damage inside cells.

In real terms, this means stiffer arteries, wrinkled skin, eye damage, and a host of other age-related conditions.

Carnosine is a rare substance that can undo these tangles, which were generally thought to be irreversible.

The Skin Study

When Dr. Oz spoke about the benefits of carnosine for aging skin, he was referring to a study published last year in which participants were given either carnosine supplements or placebo for three months. The study results showed that those receiving the carnosine supplements showed steady improvement in measurements of skin aging.

The researchers determined that carnosine was reversing protein tangles in the skin.

Dr. OZ Recommends: 500mg twice daily

Dermatolog Treat 2011

We have sold out, but we expect a new shipment of carnosine at the end of this week.
