    Get Your Fiber Every Day

    Posted by: Nutritionist | Posted on: May 17th, 2013 | 0 Comments

Getting more fiber in our diets is so important for a variety of reasons.  Most people decide to proactively add fiber when they become irregular or their doctor recommends for high cholesterol.

A new long term study shows us another benefit of fiber.  Nearly half a million people who participated in a National Health Institute diet and health study over nine years reported their dietary intake.

The results showed that those whose diet had the most fiber had a 15 to 20% reduced risk of renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer).  If you have a hard time getting fiber in your diet, one alternative we suggest is Jarrow Formulas Gentle Fibers.  You can add it water or a smoothie and supplement your diet easily.

Atopic dermatitis is a form of eczema in which people have itchy and red skin that resembles a rash.  Some researchers looked into whether or not vitamin D levels are associated.

Ninety five subjects with atopic dermatitis and fifty eight controls had their vitamin D levels checked and scored their symptoms.  They found that the frequency of infection was greater in those with lower levels of vitamin D.

They also found that once supplemented with vitamin D, symptom scores improved significantly.
