Waiting To Inhale

Asthma can be a difficult ailment to deal with for anyone.  Parents with children that have asthma worry about whether or not their kids keep their inhalers with them.  Kids sometimes think they’re invincible and try to do activities that can make the symptoms worse.  Allergens in the air add an additional layer to be concerned with.

Aside from inhalers, people with asthma would like to support their respiratory health any way they can.  A research study done with adolescents has identified magnesium intake as associated with better symptom control.

They tested the subjects asthma response using a test called methacholine challenge.  They were then given 300mg of magnesium daily or a placebo.  All were also given inhalers to use as needed.  After 2 months, both groups were retested and the magnesium group had better tests scores and used their inhalers less.
