Research is showing that diet has a role to play in mental health.  A new study looked at omega-3 intake and major depression.

Ninety five people being treated with psychotherapy were given either placebo or fish oil.  The amount of omega-3’s from their fish oil came out to 2 grams of DHA and 600mg of EPA.

At the end of the study, results showed that blood DHA levels rose in the fish oil group and these changes were correlated to depression scores.
