More research is coming out showing a connection between diabetes and vitamin D.  Investigators believed that vitamin D levels influenced glucose homeostasis.

One hundred and twenty people with diabetes had their vitamin D levels and HbA1c (a measure of blood sugar) measured.  Another group of one hundred and twenty without diabetes also had their levels measured as a control group.

The results showed that the group with diabetes and lower levels of vitamin D.  They also found that vitamin D levels were inversely associated with HbA1c levels.

Talk to your doctor about your vitamin D levels and whether you should get it checked regularly to maintain normal levels.
