Folic Acid Is Good For Your Heart

Folic acid is one of the essential B vitamins.  It has many roles in our body and researchers looked at whether or not it would impact heart health.

Over a hundred adults with heart disease risk factors were given 400mcg of folic acid for 12 weeks.  At the end of the study, folic acid levels increased while cholesterol decreased.

Folic acid plays a role in lowering homocysteine, which the authors believe might be related to its heart health benefits.
