Get Your Protein For The Golden Years

We all have had experiences of seeing loved ones age and become weak and frail.  Researchers wanted to see if diet could make a difference.

Eighty seven elderly adults who were determined to be frail were given either two protein shakes a day or left as a control group for 12 weeks.  Before and after the study, the subjects were tested on gait speed, timed up-and-go tests, and one legged stance as measures of frailty.

Those in the protein group had results that showed improvements and might support reducing the frailty in the elderly as they age.
