Probiotics are usually talked about in terms of their benefits for our digestive and immune health.  New research is showing that the gut-brain connection is another area where probiotics can have an impact.

Rats with diabetes were given either a standard diet or a diet with probiotics added for 2 months.  Before and after the study, the rats had memory and other cognitive tests done.

They found that those rats given the probiotics did better on these tests.
